Antonio Fornieles Melero
Graduate in Economics and Business Studies from the Complutense University of Madrid (1981) and Diploma in Senior Management in Business Management from the San Telmo International Institute (Seville) (2002). He passed the entrance exam to the auditing profession in 1987, joining the ICJCE.
He has more than thirty (30) years of experience in the auditing profession starting in 1983, developed practically in its entirety in KPMG Auditores, S.L. (partner since 1994), where he exercised the highest professional and management responsibilities, both national and international.
From April 2017 to June 2019, he has been Chairman of the Register of Certified Public Accountants, a body promoted to give prestige to the accounting profession by the ICJCE and the Spanish Association of Economists. President of the 1st Territorial Grouping of the ICJCE (Madrid and Castilla la Mancha) in the period 2007-2013, during which he was a member of the Plenary Council and the Standing Committee of the national ICJCE.
Member of the Board of Directors of ABENGOA from January 2015 to November 2016, where he first held the positions of Coordinating Independent Director and Second Vice-Chairman and Chairman of the Audit Committee. In March 2016, he was appointed Executive Chairman of ABENGOA, a position he held until November 2016. During this period, he led the construction of a restructuring agreement for the company with new investors and financial creditors that allowed the company to become viable.
In December 2019 he was appointed Executive Chairman of the international air services group Pegasus Aero Group, a responsibility he has held since the beginning of 2020.
He has been a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business Studies at the University of Cadiz. He is a regular speaker and lecturer at universities, professional corporations and companies on subjects related to financial information, business management and corporate governance and ethics. He has also published numerous articles in specialized media.
